The Butterbean officially opened for business on December 29th, 2018 in Manchester’s at 1204 Hull Street. The Grand Opening celebration for the Market & Cafe is set for Saturday, January 5th.
The Butterbean offers hand pulled espresso, craft beer, and kombucha alongside made from scratch soups, salads, and sandwiches to stay or to go (online ordering is available). With an expansive outdoor patio, the Butterbean will offer live music during warmer weather. The market side of the business carries just the right amount of grocery staples to serve the burgeoning community. The hope is that The Butterbean can become an essential building block for Manchester’s business district and the surrounding residential neighborhood. Said differently, we hope it becomes the glue that helps bind together a neighborhood in all its wonderful individuality and diversity.
The business is run by the team of Daniel Scherotter (Culinary Director), Nick Hanson (Operations Manager), and John Kinser (Head Chef), with Ben Spencer heading up the beverage program. The Butterbean joins Hot Diggity Donuts and as the second of several new restaurants, bakeries, cafés, & brewpubs the team is working to open on Hull Street.
Built in 1892, the building in which The Butterbean is located was once the A. A. Adkins & Co. Furniture store. After having been fully restored in 2017 with the buildout of the Butterbean completed in 2018, the building is also home to 10 apartments. As with Hot Diggity Donuts, The Butterbean has hired many of its new employees from the local neighborhood adding badly needed local jobs and a new food and drink option for the Hull Street corridor.
